10 Photo Mysteries We Still Haven't Solved

There are so many “mysterious” photos and videos on the internet that it is hard to take them seriously. While it is true that most of them are staged or fake, this is not all of them, as there are still many unsolved photographic mysteries in the world that remain unsolved.

10. Granny Lady

The Babushka Lady appears in many photographs and videos of the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy, but to this day her identity remains a mystery. Dubbed by the media for her Russian hijab, she appears to be holding a camera and filming the entire accident, although that footage has also never been found.

The strangest thing was her seemingly professional behavior, as the Granny Lady continued to stand and shoot even after shots had been fired and everyone else had run for cover. In 1970, a woman named Beverly Oliver impersonated her, and while she attracted some media attention at the time, it soon became clear that her story was full of loopholes. This includes the very obvious fact that she was 17 years old at the time of the murder, and would not have looked like the older woman we see in the footage. Furthermore, the camera she was using that day was not released until several years after the murder, further discrediting her story. For now, the case remains undisclosed .

9. Hessdalen Lights

Norway's Hessdalen Valley is home to one of the strangest phenomena UFO , which we have seen all over the world. Since at least the 1930s, people living in the valley have reported seeing strange orbs and streaks of light in the air, seemingly coming from random, unrelated locations in the valley, although no one has ever been able to find their true origin.

Some people think that it might not be a UFO or anything specific, but rather bad weather. Or, more precisely, how it is said in one research , they are "examples of anomalous atmospheric light phenomena that occur frequently in certain places on Earth."

While this may be true - and we have no scientific authority to dispute it anyway - it still doesn't explain what causes them.

8. Elisa Lam

Elisa Lam's body was found in a water tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel — now Stay on Main — in Los Angeles, though at this point we know nothing about who (or what?) killed her. She was foundFebruary 19, 2013 — 19 days after her parents reported her missing — though an autopsy revealed no cause of death. The only reason they even knew about the enclosure was because guests complained about low water pressure and a blockage.

What we do have, however, is a short video of her in the hotel during her final hours, captured by a CCTV camera in one of the elevators, which makes it all the more eerie. The video shows her making strange - almost inhuman - gestures to no one in particular, or at least no one visible.

Obviously, this has given rise to many ghost-related conspiracy theories since then, and, Admittedly the video is quite creepy , although there are several explanations here. We know that Eliza took a lot of pills for bipolar disorder that night, according to the autopsy, which may explain her behavior. However, this still tells us nothing about who killed her, the cause of her death, or even how her body ended up in the tank.

7. Tara Calico and Michael Henley

Tara Calico and Michelle Henley are separate missing persons from New Mexico , though they unexpectedly meet some 1,500 miles away in photographic form. The photo, found by a woman in a random Florida parking lot in June 1989, shows Tara and Michael — ages 19 and 9, respectively — indoors, both covered in duct tape and with resigned expressions on their faces.

To this day, we have no idea where the photo was taken or what ultimately happened to either of them. We're not even entirely sure it's them, as Michael Henley's body was discovered months after the photo was found, and foul play has been completely ruled out. The girl, however, is almost certainly Tara. Her family seems certain of it, and the book lying next to her is " My dear Audrina" V.K. Andrews is also Tara's favorite book.

6. Naga Fireballs

Naga fireballs, also called " Lights of the Mekong " or "ghost lights", named after a mythical serpent in Thai mythology, although we actually have no idea how they are produced. Although we call them fireballs, there is no evidence that they have anything to do with fire, although we know that travelers have photographed them a lot. These lights are visible across the Mekong River every year in late autumn.

Scientists and curious observers online have tried to study the photos and the phenomenon itself, but no explanation makes sense. Some claim that they are caused by flamethrowers on the other side of the river, who carefully gather together and throw fireballs into the air for all to see each year. Perhaps, though, since the event has been going on since at least the 80s, someone would have noticed these mysterious shooters.

5. Congo Giant Snake

The giant Congo snake was photographed in 1959 by a Belgian Air Force colonel. Although it looks like an ordinary snake snake, Found in the Congo, the photograph was actually taken from the air. According to Colonel Remy Van Lierde, the snake was at least 50 feet long, making it the largest snake ever found anywhere. However, we have no concrete reason to believe that such a snake even exists, as it would likely collapse under its own weight and eventually die out.

However, it is still not completely out of the question, as the largest snakes – anacondas – can grow up to 30 feet long, which is not that far off. Moreover, we are constantly discovering new species, many of which were previously thought extinct .

While the photo hints at the existence of an abnormally large snake - especially compared to the trees surrounding it - some have suggested it may not have been that big, And It is quite possible that the colonel may have simply overestimated the size of the huge snake. African Rock Python or something like that.

4. Daylenn Pua

On January 27, 2015, Daylenn Pua, an 18-year-old resident of Oahu, Hawaii, set out to climb the infamous Haiku Stairs, a World War II structure built to access a radio station at 2,800 feet . . While it’s not a particularly attractive place to hike — as the stairs are now located in a defunct, dilapidated stage — the Haiku Stairs definitely offer great panoramic views of the surrounding area. Pua began his hike around 11:00 a.m. and began posting live photos to his social media accounts almost immediately.

Sadly, that was the last time his family — or anyone else — heard from him, as Daylenn Pua has been missing since that day. But the creepiest part was a subtle detail on one of the photos . Upon closer inspection, forensic experts discovered a figure hiding on a trail that appeared to be following Pua. He is now the prime suspect in the case, although it is unlikely to be a lead since his face is barely recognizable.

3. Charlie Chaplin's Time Traveler

In 2010, George Clarke, a Belfast film director, posted on YouTube video , which quickly went viral and had millions of views in a matter of days. It was from the 1928 Charlie Chaplin film, Circus ", or, more accurately, the extra footage that came with its DVD. It shows an old man in a coat doing something no one could do in 1928: talking on the phone.

Although the footage is short, it has become the focus of many time travel conspiracy theories since Clarke posted his video, as the first commercial mobile phones weren't invented until the early 1980s. Some claim that the phone isn't a phone at all, but some kind of hearing aid. That's possible, but the man is clearly laughing and smiling — he even pauses to look into the distance and finish his sentence before the camera cuts to something else.

Some It is said that the footage is fake and was actually inserted into the DVD's extra section by a clever fraudster much later. This is possible, although it would require replacing every DVD containing the film.

2. The Sea Monster of Hook Island

Hook Island is one of many bizarre tiny islands off the coast of northwestern Australia that can kill you in more ways than one, and we're not exaggerating here. There have been several deaths from dangerous jellyfish, prowling the waters, as well as the treacherous rocks along the coastline that prevent any activity on the water. In addition, it is a sparsely populated region, making rescue efforts difficult and time-consuming.

It would be a completely unremarkable island if it were not for the mysterious creature found in its waters, about which we know nothing. First photographed by a Breton photographer by Robert Le Serrec In 1964, the creature looks like a tadpole about 80 feet long, except we don't know of any sea animals living in these waters that look like that. While many people have dismissed it as a hoax, or at least some animal we already know about, the mystery still stands.

1. Victorian Ghost Hand

This Victorian era photograph appears in online advertising since at least 2020, although we still can’t adequately explain it. At first glance, it looks like any other photograph of working-class women from the era, as it was taken in a Belfast linen mill back in 2000. However, further inspection reveals a terrifying detail: if you look closely at the second row from the bottom, the woman sitting on the far right appears to be holding a disembodied hand on her shoulder.

There are several factors that make it particularly creepy. First, all the hands in the photograph are taken into account, as all the women except one on the far left of the same row have their arms crossed. Moreover, in In 1900 it was impossible to fake a photograph, say, using Photoshop , making it a more authentic “ghost photo” than most of the ones we see online these days. The hand looks very real and three-dimensional – an effect that is hard to fake even today, let alone back then.
