Many travelers, when going to new countries, set themselves the task of seeing as much as possible.
There are a huge number of breathtaking places on our planet. Many magnificent landscapes created by the hands of man and nature. It is impossible to count how many there are, so below is a list of the five most beautiful places on Earth.
1: Sea of Stars at Vaadhoo Island, Maldives
There is a truly amazing place where you can plunge into space. But you don’t have to be an astronaut to do this, because this place is on Earth, namely on the island of Vaadhoo, located in the Maldives. Microorganisms living here emit light in the process of bioluminescence, converting it from chemical energy. As a result, the sea is illuminated by many small blue lights. From the outside, this phenomenon looks like many stars shining brightly in the night sky. It becomes clear why the Sea of Stars deserved such a name.
It is worth seeing this unusual phenomenon when the breeding season begins for marine organisms - this is when the shore is illuminated so much that the fantastic glow can be seen even from space. However, you should not touch the water, because during this period the organisms release many toxins that are harmful to humans.
2: Iguazu Falls
One of the seven wonders of nature is located in South America, on the borders of Brazil and Argentina. The complex consists of 275 waterfalls located on the Iguazu River. This place was first discovered by Indians. From the language of the Guarani tribe, "Iguazu" is translated as "big water". According to legend, the chosen one of the local god fell in love with a mere mortal and wanted to run away with him by going down the river in a boat. Enraged, the god decided to set a deadly trap for the lovers. That is why the largest waterfall of the entire cascade is still called "The Devil's Throat".
The length of the entire cascade is slightly more than three kilometers. The height of the water fall is on average 60-80 m. The chain of waterfalls is characterized by two seasons - the rainy period and the dry period. During the dry period, the river becomes languid, and it becomes possible to get to the waterfalls on foot. The rainy season is good because the waterfalls gain their maximum strength, and tourists can come almost right up to the cascade.
3: Yellowstone Volcano
One of the largest volcanoes on our planet is located in the park of the same name in the USA, Wyoming. This super volcano is located right in the center of the North American tectonic plate. It has gained fame not only because it is one of the largest or most beautiful volcanoes, but also because this volcano is ready to "wake up" at any moment, which will turn into a terrible catastrophe for the entire planet. The administration even had to close part of the park to visitors. This is how dangerous beauty can be.
In addition, the park is home to the largest mountain lake in the United States – its area is about 350 square kilometers, and its depth is slightly more than 115 meters. The park has just under 300 waterfalls, and the largest of them is twice as high as the famous Niagara Falls.
4: Colored Rocks
This amazingly beautiful place is located in China, in the province of Gansu. The mountain formations consist of a large number of red sandstones and various rocks, mainly from the Cretaceous period. The unusual rocks were formed 100 million years ago. At that time, in the place of Zhangye, there was a large pool, which dried up due to high temperatures. After 30 million years, sediments formed a new bottom of the pool, finally hardening. It is these sediments that give the rocks a reddish tint. Gradually, the bottom of the pool was washed out by the movement of rivers and rocks. This is how the Zhangye Mountains were formed. However, according to scientists, Zhangye continues to grow now, albeit little by little - only 0.87 meters in 100 thousand years. In 2010, UNESCO included the colored rocks of Zhangye in the World Heritage List. After that, this attraction became much more popular with tourists. And for good reason – after all, the multi-colored mountains seem to have been painted by an artist with very good taste. Looking at this landscape, it seems as if you are on another planet.
5: Salar de Uyuni
Bolivia is home to the largest salt lake, the Uyuni Salar. Its area is about 10 thousand square kilometers. There are as many as 10 billion tons of salt here. During the rainy season, the dried-up lake fills with water, and a “mirror” forms on the surface. That is when the unearthly, fantastic landscape appears, when the picture merges into one, and when there is sky under your feet. At such moments, Uyuni looks more like another planet than another lake. This place is definitely worth visiting.
