As much as you would like to forget about business and problems during the holidays, this does not always work. Not all issues can be resolved by phone or through online services. Let's figure out how banks work during the New Year holidays and whether it is possible to contact employees directly at a branch near your home.
Bank Holidays in January
According to the production calendar, holidays last from January 1 to January 8 inclusive.. During long weekends, some branches open between these dates. The first 2 days are definitely considered days off, when the banks' doors are closed. From January 3 to 5, some branches open, the shift will be shortened. When resuming work during the New Year holidays, banks take into account the interests of their clients. On the 6th, those branches work, on the 7th, duty offices remain available. Monday will be a working day, but a short one.
It should be taken into account that each bank approves its own schedule and the number of days off for each institution may differ significantly. For example, Raiffeisenbank in January 2024 left only the 5th and 6th for receiving clients during the New Year holidays. Other days up to January 8 were days off.
What date do banks open?
Banks will resume their normal operations in January 2025 according to the schedule from Tuesday, January 9. During the winter holidays, some offices open on certain days to receive individuals. Corporate clients will have to wait until the end of the long weekend to resolve financial issues.
Bank opening hours during New Year holidays
How banks operate in January of the New Year 2025 depends on the status of each, the number of branches, and their workload. Less popular ones take weekends during the entire New Year holidays, while those like Sberbank leave only a couple of days for rest.
Alfa-bank
On December 30, offices will operate on Saturday hours.. On the 31st and the following days up until January 4th, the bank will be closed. On-duty branches will be open from the 4th to the 6th, as well as on the 8th. Specific addresses and working hours will be displayed on the bank's official website. January 7th remains a day off.
All ATMs operate during the New Year holidays. Those located in retail outlets and partner organizations are available during their working hours. Except for the first three New Year days, as well as on Christmas Day on January 7, payments that do not require manual processing are processed. Services are provided to legal entities in the same mode as for individuals.
VTB
On Saturday, December 30, bank branches will be open with a six-day working week. From January 31, almost all offices, except for those on duty, are closed until the 4th. In the latter, on January 1-3 and January 6-8, you can get a ready card or social payments, pay interest on a loan, block or unblock an account, and exchange currency. From January 4 to 6, VTB branches work in a shortened mode, and on the 9th, the bank will return to its normal schedule.

Sberbank
Before the New Year holidays, Sberbank accepts clients until December 30. Branches will close an hour earlier before the holiday and will reopen on January 4. Until the 6th inclusive and on the 8th, offices will serve visitors part-time. On the first three days of January and on the 7th, a limited number of services can be obtained at duty branches. Their addresses are available on the Serbank website and in the mobile application.
Corporate clients will not be served during the New Year holidaysOnly business registration and opening of some types of accounts. Their payments will not be written off until January 9. This does not apply to individuals.
If the payment deadline is a holiday, the payment can be made until the first working day after the weekend. In this case, a delay is excluded.
You can apply for a card via Sberbank Online. The virtual card is ready for use immediately. Its physical counterpart can be received after January 9.
Gazprombank
On the last day of the old year, the bank's offices are closed. On Saturday, some branches with a six-day week work. In January, the 1st, 2nd, and 7th will be days off.
On other days, customer service is provided in a reduced capacity by duty offices. Up-to-date information will be posted on the Gazprombank website.
Rosselkhozbank
On the last working day of the outgoing year, the bank serves clients until 13.00-13.30. December 31 marks the beginning of the New Year holidays, which will last until January 9. At the beginning of the new year, Rosselkhozbank extended the weekend until the 10th. In large cities, the days from January 4 to 6 remained working days, but only individual clients were served.

Raiffeisenbank
The bank provides employees with days off from December 31, 2024 to January 9, 2025. Offices in large cities such as St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg and others will be on duty on the 5th. The full list is published on the official website of the organization. Here you can also leave a loan application any day. Online payments are accepted throughout the New Year holidays. You must pay off the loan in cash before the weekend.
