Best Airlines 2024-2025

AirlineRatings.com, a website that specializes in assessing the safety and reliability of international and regional airlines, has compiled a rating of Top Airlines in the World 2021.

When compiling the list of the best and worst airlines, the site's experts took into account 11 key criteria, including: fleet age, accident history, customer reviews, innovations for passenger comfort, and safety measures related to coronavirus prevention. However, such an item as the profitability of each airline was excluded from the ranking criteria, since each carrier suffered significant financial losses during the pandemic.

And while there has been a shake-up in the industry, the list hasn't changed radically from previous years. The biggest change is that Qatar Airways has knocked Air New Zealand off the top spot and is now claiming the title of king of the skies.

Best Airline 2021 - Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways has received awards in several areas:

  1. innovations for aircraft cabins,
  2. commitment to work during the COVID-19 epidemic,
  3. operational safety,
  4. striving for perfection,
  5. leadership in environmental protection.

These numerous factors have made the airline a clear industry leader.

“Our objective analysis shows that Qatar Airways came out on top in virtually every audit criterion, which is an exceptional performance,” said AirlineRatings.com editor-in-chief Geoffrey Thomas.

Qatar Airways was one of the first carriers to complete the important IATA IOSA safety audit and the first to undergo a full COVID audit and meet the requirements of both AirlineRatings and Skytrax.

Qatar Airways also became the world's largest airline by passenger kilometres flown last year as it continued to operate international flights when other carriers grounded their aircraft due to the coronavirus pandemic.
