A month before the New Year 2025, parents have more worries. In addition to coming up with a menu for the holiday, finding a Christmas tree, buying gifts, but also not forgetting about the New Year's party for children. Mothers of girls have it the hardest, because their little beauties must look great at this event.
Previously, the most popular and simple images were snowflakes, Snow Queen, Snow Maiden. Today, girls prefer completely different images, because no one wants to be in the same costumes with a friend. And this often happens, since parents buy ready-made costumes at the same market, or rent them. But custom-made and rented costumes are quite overpriced, so not everyone can afford it.
Today, to sew a New Year's costume for a girl, you don't have to go to sewing courses. You also don't have to spend money on expensive materials and accessories. Thanks to master classes, you can offer your daughter an original costume that will make her dreams come true and will be remembered for a lifetime. You can make a costume in a couple of evenings, using ready-made ideas that can be supplemented, and also come up with your own outfits, using the simplest materials.
1. Flower Fairy
The flower fairy costume does not require sewing skills, special talents, or expensive materials. It can be sewn in one evening, and you can also make any image of a cartoon fairy from it, simply changing the color of the fabric and adding a few appropriate accessories.
For the New Year's flower fairy costume you will need:
- pieces of tulle (tulle) in red, orange, yellow, raspberry and pink;
- a T-shirt whose color matches one of the shades chosen for sewing the skirt;
- a piece of elastic band;
- pink satin ribbon;
- small and large artificial flowers;
- glue gun;
- a piece of felt fabric;
- Velcro fastener;
- sharp scissors;
- a piece of thick cardboard in white and pink colors;
- threads and needles;
- Chinese chopsticks;
- silver paint;
- paper;
- rhinestones.
Making a costume
- 1. First, take an elastic band and cut it to the size of the girl's waist. Sew the edges to make a circle.
- 2. Measure the length from the waist to the floor and cut the same but double the size of the tulle fabric into ribbons (40-50 pieces). The more ribbons, the more voluminous the fairy's skirt will be.
- 3. For convenience, it is better to fix the elastic on plywood or the back of a chair. Fasten the tulle to the elastic by folding each ribbon in half. Next, you need to thread each of the strips in the form of a loop through the elastic as in the picture. The ribbon should fit tightly on the base. In this way, you need to fill the entire elastic, the colors of the ribbons need to be alternated.
- 4. Mask the seam where the elastic was sewn with a bright ribbon.
- 5. Measure the circumference of the girl's head. Cut a strip of this length and 3 cm wide from a piece of cardboard. Cut a felt strip using the cardboard pattern. Glue the felt to the cardboard and sew Velcro onto the edges. Decorate the headband with flowers and buds, rhinestones, and beads. If you have a ready-made headband, decorate it as you wish - this will make the work easier.
- 6. Lay out the T-shirt you chose for this purpose and decorate it with flowers, butterflies, rhinestones, and beads. Lanterns or bows made of tulle are attached to the sleeves.
- 7. The main attribute of a fairy is a magic wand. You can use a chopstick for this role. Apply glue in a spiral with a glue gun and let it dry. All that's left is to paint it in your favorite color and add glitter. Attach a foil star to the end of the wand or tie a bright ribbon into a bow. You can also add floral decor.
- 8. Complete the image of the fairy with wings. Cut out two wings from pink cardboard, lay them out so that they touch and sew them together using a piece of felt fabric.
- 9. Make cuts in the pink cardboard of the wings at a distance of 4 centimeters from the middle. And pull the satin ribbons for the straps through them. The wings can be decorated with patterns and rhinestones. If possible, you can wrap the wings with a piece of organza or colored nylon.
- 10. Tie a tulle bow and attach it so as to hide the place where the wings join. Place an artificial rose or daisy on the bow.
2. Cat
The cat costume has always been relevant, and it can be made in a variety of ways. It will surely make your girl stand out from other snowflakes and princesses. This costume is as easy to make as the previous one. The main distinguishing features are the ears and tail, which are what you should pay more attention to.
For a New Year's cat costume you will need:
- thick black tights or black leggings;
- black sweater or bodysuit;
- black tulle;
- elastic band;
- simple black plastic hoop;
- paper for constructing patterns;
- pencil;
- scissors;
- pieces of felt fabric in black and pink shades;
- threads;
- needles;
- two cardboard toilet paper tubes;
- one cardboard paper towel tube;
- long black jersey turtleneck;
- pieces of black faux fur;
- pins;
- glue gun or glue.
Making a costume
- 1. On a sheet of paper folded in half, draw a cat ear. Cut out two elements. Place the pattern on black felt and cut out two ears.
- 2. Cover the entire hoop with black felt, place the ears along the edges and join them along the hoop line with a hand stitch. Sew the edges of the ears with a curly stitch.
- 3. Cut two triangles from pink felt, slightly smaller in size than the black ear. Glue them to the middle of the ears.
- 4. To make the cat's tail, take a regular bag and put two toilet paper rolls in it, wrap it up. Cover the creation with a long black sock, roll the edges into a tube. Use a stapler to make a break at the tip of the resulting tail.
- 5. Wrap a long paper towel roll in a bag and put it in the golf. Sew the free edge of the golf and secure it with a pin. After that, attach small pieces of black fur to the tail.
- 6. For the skirt, you need to measure the waist and cut out an elastic band according to this size, which you then need to attach to a chair or board. Cut the black tulle into strips twice as long as the distance from the waist to the girl's knees, 15 cm wide.
- 7. Sew the ends of the elastic band and attach the Velcro. String the tulle strips onto the secured elastic band, folding them in half and catching the elastic band with a loop. The more strips, the fuller the skirt.
- 8. Attach a tail to the back of the skirt. Before the party, do some cat makeup: draw whiskers and the tip of the nose with a black pencil.
3. Bee
For a matinee in a kindergarten, a very bright and original choice is a bee costume. The basis of such an outfit will be a bodysuit or a T-shirt, and a fluffy skirt can be made in one evening.
For the New Year's bee costume you will need:
- yellow knitwear or a ready-made yellow bodysuit;
- black fabric;
- edging;
- black satin ribbon;
- a few buttons;
- chiffon or other transparent yellow fabric;
- wire;
- black organza;
- gold acrylic paint;
- rhinestones;
- scissors;
- threads;
- needles;
- rim;
- yellow pom-poms.
Making a costume
- 1. It is better to take a ready-made bodysuit as a pattern, lay it out on yellow fabric, outline the contour, leaving allowances for seams.
- 2. Cut the black fabric into strips and sew them to both parts of the bodysuit. Sew both parts together.
- 3. Trim the neck, armhole and bottom of the bodysuit with piping. Pull a thin black ribbon through the neck and tie a bow in the shoulder area.
- 4. Add a skirt to the bodysuit. Sew a yoke from a piece of yellow fabric, pull the two pieces of fabric together with flounces and sew to the yoke. Insert an elastic band into the waistband. Straighten the flounces.
- 5. Twist the frame of the wings from aluminum wire. Pull a piece of black organza onto the frame and sew it along the back side of the product.
- 6. Use gold paint to paint the design on the wings and glue on the rhinestones.
- 7. The bee's antennae can be made from a hoop. You need to attach wire antennae to it and wrap them with a black ribbon. Attach yellow pom-poms to the tips of these antennae.
