10. The most crooked street in the world is Lombard Street

Anyone hoping to drive down the world's most crooked street may now have to pay a toll. The road, with eight turns in 400 metres, is so popular with tourists that it creates problems for the people who live there.

City bosses believe charging drivers $10 (just under 640 rubles) will help ease congestion and noise on the unusual road.

9. Steepest paved road - Ffordd Pen Lech

In July 2019, the street took the official title of the steepest paved road in the world from the previous steepest record holder, Baldwin Street in New Zealand.

Ffordd Pen Lech is 330 metres long and has a rise of 50 metres. Some sections have a gradient of 37.45 %. At its steepest point, the road has a gradient of 1:2.67 (the height increases by one metre for every 2.67 metres of length), while Baldwin Street has a gradient of 1:2.86.

To avoid accidents, authorities have restricted traffic on the northern part of the street, where cars are only allowed to move downhill.

Many motorists like to say that they can hear the music of the road, but some roads really do sound like music.

One place where you can feel the rhythm of the asphalt is in Lancaster, California, on Civic Musical Road.

Along its entire 400-meter length, car owners hear an excerpt from the overture to Gioachino Rossini's opera "William Tell." The road was originally intended to advertise the Honda Civic, but soon after its construction, the music lanes had to be moved away from residential buildings. Local residents did not appreciate the art and began to complain about the increased noise level.

Imagine a typical day at the office. Employees are busy with paperwork, someone is drinking coffee, and someone has secretly opened this website and is reading it. And nearby, cars are silently rushing by.

This is exactly what happens in one office building in Osaka, through which the Hanshin Expressway passes. The highway occupies three floors of a 16-story office building. Since the area where the highway passes is well soundproofed, cars do not disturb office workers in any way.
