Parents want the best for their children. But the objects that a child interacts with every day can be more dangerous than poor-quality food or clothing. We are talking about toys.
Experts from the British organization Which?, a member of the International Assembly of Consumer Testing Organizations, studied 28 toys purchased on popular online sites:
- AliExpress,
- Amazon,
- eBay
- Wish
They found 50 violations, the most dangerous of which included long wires and cords (which could cause strangulation), fragile parts, and small parts that could be easily swallowed.

The manufacturer made the toy tablets too small, it will not be difficult for a child to swallow them. The scissors and notepad in the set are not durable, they easily broke during testing, and the sharp edges can injure a child.
The experts also did not like the stethoscope, its cord is long enough to accidentally wrap around a child’s neck.

During the impact test, tiny magnets fell out of the construction set parts. This is dangerous, considering that the power of these magnets is 4 times higher than the permissible one. If at least two of these parts are swallowed, they will connect and can damage the stomach and internal organs.

The tablet screen is in perfect condition, but the stylus has a very thin tip and can easily break off. In addition, the battery compartment cover is poorly secured and can be easily removed.

It would seem, what could be dangerous about such a cute toy? It is soft, large enough – a child will not swallow it – and has no sharp corners. However, the danger lies not in the puppy itself, but in the decoration on its neck. It is fragile and can crumble in a child’s hands.

Another dangerous stuffed dog that Which? experts didn't like with its eyes and nose. They're not securely glued on, can fall off at any moment, and a small child could put them in their mouth.
2. Crib rattle - caterpillar shaped (bought on Wish)
The main problem with this - and many other dangerous soft toys - is weak seams. If they come apart, a child can get to the filling and try it "with his teeth".
In addition, this long and soft rattle can cause strangulation, or the child can get entangled in the strings that the toys are attached to.

How to choose safe toys – Roskachestvo recommendations
- Buy a device called "Small Parts Tester" on Aliexpress (costs about 3,000 rubles). You need to place the toy parts in this cylinder, which imitates the throat of children under 3 years old. Did they fit? That means the toy is dangerous.
- The toy must have the CE mark - confirms the presence of the European certificate of conformity, and means that the product is safe. However, a counterfeit product may also have such a mark. Roskachestvo advises: if the toy is cheap and looks flimsy, and there is no information about the seller and the composition of the product, it is better to refuse to buy it.
- Carefully examine the toy's data, including age markings. Accidents often occur when a child plays with a toy that is not intended for his or her age group.
- Give preference to well-known brands, they care about their reputation, monitor reviews and care about the safety of their products.
- Before buying, inspect the toy for small parts, long wires or ribbons, and also assess the reliability of the battery compartment. Its lid is reliable if it requires two actions to open (for example, pressing and then removing).
- Observe how the child plays with the toy, whether the seams are coming apart or whether small parts are falling off.
