The Most Expensive Suits for Men in the World

An impeccably fitting suit is part of the image of an elegant, self-confident man. And the richest and most famous have their suits made by world-famous designers, and are ready to pay tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars for clothes. After all, whether we like it or not, people will always "judge a book by its cover."

The most expensive suits in the world that we're going to talk about cost more than most cars, and even more than some apartments.

10. Ermenegildo Zegna - from $22 to 28 thousand

p2ex4xg4A bespoke men's suit from the Italian fashion house is made from over 700 fabrics, yet is durable and lightweight. The process of creating a suit takes an average of 75 working hours. Each suit requires four meetings with tailors, and the client does not fly to them, but they fly to him.

9. World Wood Record Challenge Winning Costume - $28 thousand

3alhzyqnThe concept of this suit is interesting - it changes every year and is the result of a competition organized by popular Italian cashmere producers - the family company Loro Piano.

In 2012, the winner of the competition was an Australian female designer named Suzanne Triplett.

Sergio and Pier Luigi Loro Piano liked the fabric and design of the suit. They made fifty of them and sold them under the Loro Piana brand for $28,000 each.

8. Brioni Vanquish II – $43 thousand

iic4attqThere is one interesting reason why the name Brioni is famous not only in the fashion world, but also in cinema. And its name is James Bond. It is in suits from the famous brand that agent 007 has been sporting in films since 1995.

The Vanquish II suit is made from the finest and rarest fabrics – kiviut, vicuna and pashmina. To top it all off, white gold thread was added to the suit’s embroidery. There are only a hundred Brioni Vanquish IIs in existence.

This is not the only expensive suit of this brand. Most of them are made to order for very wealthy clients.

7. Desmond Merrion Supreme - $47.5 thousand

z2c0dgeeThis suit was handcrafted by Desmond Merrion himself, one of the best tailors in London. Merrion does not use a sewing machine when creating his tailoring masterpieces, which partly explains the high cost of his suits.

6. Kiton K50 – $60 thousand

j2bnu1liOnly five tailors at Kiton can make this super-expensive merino wool suit. It takes 50 hours to make and they make 50 suits a year. The design for this beautiful garment was created by the famous Italian tailor Enzo D'Orsi.

5. William Westmancott Ultimate Bespoke - $75 thousand

s5wxbmryThe luxury suit can take between 150 and 200 hours to make. Designer William Westmancott, who is behind the suit, says the luxury men's wardrobe is attracting interest from both wealthy Russian and Middle Eastern businessmen.

To ensure the suit doesn't lose its shape over time, horsehair is used instead of threads. You'll also get five free shirts with your purchase.

4. Zoot Suit – $78 thousand

qa5ofnq3Compared to the elegant pieces on the list of the most expensive men's clothing in the world, this vintage striped outfit from World War II looks comical.

However, its current price is no joke. It was for $78,000 that the Zoot Suit was sold at Augusta Auctions in 2011. The buyer remained unknown.

And the buyer, who wished to remain anonymous, paid not for the appearance, but for the amazing story associated with this wardrobe item.

With its oversized shoulder pads, flared lapels, and peg-leg trousers, the zoot suit grew out of suits popular in Harlem dance halls in the mid-1930s. By the 1940s, similar suits were being worn by minorities in working-class neighborhoods across the country. Although worn by celebrities like Dizzy Gillespie and Louis Armstrong, the zoot suit was “neither a suit nor a uniform from the entertainment world,” as Chicago big-band trumpeter and manufacturer Harold Fox once said. It came straight from the streets and the ghetto to the fashion world.

In reality, there was no brand name for such a suit. There was no designer associated with the Zoot Suit look, no department store where you could buy one. These were special outfits, regular suits bought two sizes too big and then creatively tailored to create a dandy effect.

And in the 50s the fashion for such suits passed. And most of them were simply remade into other items of clothing.

3. Dormeuil Vanquish II — $95.3 thousand

l5lqpnh3At the opening of its representative office in India, the British supplier of the finest and most expensive fabrics in the world presented Vanquish II fabric, created from six types of ultra-premium fabrics:

  1. Vanquish II;
  2. Royal Qivuik;
  3. Kirgiz White;
  4. Ambassador;
  5. Dorsilk;
  6. and Fifteen Point Eight.

The fabric, which combines smoothness, strength and softness, was used to make a suit worth more than $95,000. Its design was developed by the company's CEO himself.

2. Alexander Amosu Vanquish II — $101.8 thousand

ennz1lqbThis bespoke suit is one of the few fashion items in the world to command a six-figure price tag. It was made for an anonymous buyer.

The suit justifies its astronomical price with fabric made from pashmina (wool from Kashmir mountain goats), rare musk ox and vicuna wool, as well as nine buttons made of 18-karat gold and diamonds. It took more than 80 hours of work and five thousand stitches to create.

Unlike the other people we mention on this list, Alexander Amosu is not a tailor. He is simply a good designer of very expensive things and a successful entrepreneur. He is the Elon Musk of the luxury enthusiast world.

1. Stuart Hughes Diamond Edition - $892.5 thousand

h5b4nxiqStuart Hughes is a household name among luxury connoisseurs. This designer can turn everything from the world's most expensive phones to a yacht and a piece of clothing into a unique gem.

The most expensive men's suit in the world, which Hughes created in collaboration with Richard Jewels, is made from the finest cashmere, wool and silk. The decoration contains 480 diamonds weighing a total of 240 carats.

It took 600 hours of work by the finest tailors and jewelers to create it, and there are only three similar suits in the world.

Basically, it's the perfect fashion jewelry costume. And while it might be life-threatening to walk around with all those diamonds, it'll definitely make you feel like you're worth about $1 million.
