Lipstick is one of the most popular gifts for March 8, and is practically a must-have item in a woman's cosmetic bag. This means that the quality of the lipstick is important, because it should not only be long-lasting and pleasant to look at, but also safe.
However, you can't determine the quality of a lipstick "by eye". And here Roskachestvo experts came to the rescue. On the eve of International Women's Day, they tested 20 samples of women's lipstick and chose the five best ones. And we present this selection of the best lipstick to your attention.
5. Givenchy Le Rouge Deep Velvet
Made in France.
This matte lipstick is not cheap, neither in price nor in content. It is smooth, uniform and evenly colored, and contains such useful components as vitamin E (in small quantities) and extract of South African acmella flowers, which smoothes lips.
We also note the beautiful body of this lipstick, made of velvet.
Researchers have not found any potentially dangerous substances in it, it does not irritate the lips and mucous membranes, and will not cause allergies when used. Le Rouge Deep Velvet stays on the lips for a long time (up to 12 hours or until meals, as one of the users said in her review), does not spread beyond the contour, does not emphasize small irregularities of the lips and has such a useful quality as frost resistance, which means it will not lose its qualities in the cold season.
4. NYX Mat Rouge a Levres
Country of origin: Taiwan.
It's even surprising how such a budget option made it into the rating of the best lipstick of 2020. But the fact is: despite the low price, Mat Rouge a Levres is ideal in terms of organoleptic properties, sanitary and hygienic indicators and does not pose any microbiological hazard.
The lipstick contains vitamin E, but there is not too much of it and it will not have a significant effect on the lips, as Roskachestvo experts believe. The lipstick itself is easy to apply to the lips, does not form lumps and is of average durability. Its coverage is quite dense, so you will not have to apply layer after layer in an attempt to achieve a brighter color.
The packaging for this product is not as pretty as the fifth one, Givenchy Le Rouge Deep Velvet, but it is sturdy and airtight.
3. MAC Matte Lipstick
Where it is produced – in Belgium.
A solid mid-range product in terms of price and one of the highest quality lipsticks on the Russian market. The "Belgian" gets solid A's in terms of organoleptic and microbiological properties, as well as sanitary and hygienic safety.
But the composition is not so good. According to the analysis on the Ecogolik website, MAC Matte Lipstick contains potentially harmful substances such as ozokerite, polyethylene terephthalate, phenyl trimethicone, isononyl isononanoate and acrylates copolymer. They can cause skin irritation.
Otherwise, this lipstick is great. It has a uniform consistency, is easy to apply and lasts well throughout the day, is resistant to cold, and does not roll into nasty lumps on the lips. However, it can slightly dry out the lips, like other matte lipsticks. This problem is solved by a primer.
2. Artdeco Perfect mat lipstick
Country of origin: Germany.
This matte lipstick is made from high-quality raw materials, it is impeccable in terms of microbiological and sanitary-hygienic indicators, it lies softly on the lips and does not form lumps. Velvety texture, noble colors and a subtle pleasant fragrance immediately distinguish this lipstick from others.
However, this lip product (as well as most others) contains potentially harmful substances that Roskachestvo testers did not like.
If you look at the Ecologic website and test the composition of the Perfect mat lipstick, you will find such components as polyisobutene, dimethicone, propylene carbonate and several other substances that can clog pores and cause skin irritation.
1. ESTEE LAUDER Pure color envy matte sculpting lipstick
Made in Belgium.
The best lipstick of 2025 earned five-star ratings on all indicators – from microbiological and sanitary-hygienic to organoleptic properties, safety and content of potentially harmful substances.
It has a creamy texture, does not spread on the lips, has good frost resistance and lies on softly, without emphasizing peeling. The fragrance is light and sweetish, not felt after application, and the color is rich and bright, in one touch.
