The New Year season beckons with fluffy snow and active recreation: skiing, sledding, or just playing snowballs. It is not for nothing that ski resorts offer warming drinks to warm up after such a pastime.
Christmas holidays will take on a different flavor with mulled wine, which can be brewed not only for adults. For small children or for those who do not drink - there are non-alcoholic recipes. The fragrant aroma of herbs with juice or wine will add a festive atmosphere to winter evenings of the New Year, as well as at Christmas.
№1. Pomegranate mulled wine, non-alcoholic
Ingredients:
- pomegranate - 2 pcs.;
- orange - 1 pc.;
- zest of half an orange;
- cinnamon - 1 stick;
- cloves - 3 pcs.;
- nutmeg - on the tip of a knife;
- honey - 3 tsp.
Peel the pomegranates and simmer for ten minutes in boiling water over low heat. Add the squeezed pomegranate juice, orange slices, zest and spices. Simmer the drink over low heat and bring to 60 degrees, remove from heat and strain. Add honey and fresh spices to the finished drink poured into glasses for decoration.
Mulled wine will cool more slowly if served in thick-walled glasses.
№2. Pomegranate mulled wine with spices, non-alcoholic
Ingredients:
- water – 1 cup
- pomegranate juice - 1 l.
- tangerine - 1 pc.
- cinnamon - 2 sticks.
- cloves - 3 pcs.
- nutmeg - on the tip of a knife.
- cardamom - 5 grains.
- ginger - 1 tsp grated root.
- honey - 3 tablespoons.
Place the spices together and pour boiling water over them, cover with a lid and let sit for at least an hour. Heat the pomegranate juice, but do not bring it to a boil. Divide the tangerine into slices and add it to the pan with the juice, and pour in the spice infusion. Heat over low heat to 70 degrees, stirring. Strain the finished mulled wine, pour into glasses, add honey.
№3. Mulled wine from hibiscus, non-alcoholic
Hibiscus relieves spasms, reduces fever and strengthens the body, thanks to many vitamins and amino acids. People with low blood pressure should not get carried away with this drink.
Ingredients:
- hibiscus petals - 3 tbsp.
- boiling water - 500 ml.
- honey - 4 tbsp.
- cloves - 5 pcs.
- cinnamon - 2 sticks.
- ginger - 4 cm. - piece 3-4 cm.
Pour boiling water over hibiscus petals, cloves, cinnamon and grated ginger. Mix the ingredients. Close the container with the mixture tightly and wrap it in a towel to retain as much heat as possible. The drink should be infused for at least 10 minutes, after which it should be strained, add honey and pour into glasses.
To avoid wrapping the mulled wine mixture in a towel, you can pour it into a thermos to infuse.
№4. Appetizing white Christmas mulled wine
Ingredients:
- dry white wine - 750 ml;
- apple juice - 200 ml;
- cinnamon – 1-2 sticks;
- cloves – 2 pcs;
- burnt sugar – 100-150 grams;
- oranges – 3-4 pcs;
Pour wine, apple juice and orange slices without peel into a bowl. Put the mixture on low heat and bring to 70 degrees. Then add spices and burnt sugar and bring to 80 degrees. Remove the finished drink from the heat, strain, pour into glasses. Garnish with orange slices.
#5. Spicy Christmas Mulled Wine
Ingredients:
- red dry wine - 750 ml;
- Becherovka tincture or Riga balsam - 75-100 ml;
- cinnamon - 1 stick;
- cloves – 3 pcs;
- honey – 3-4 tablespoons;
- ground nutmeg - a pinch;
- orange or tangerine – 1 pc;
- cardamom – to taste.
Pour wine, balsam and all the spices into a mulled wine container. Place the container with the mixture on low heat and cook until 50-60 degrees, then add orange or tangerine slices without the peel. Leave for about 5 minutes on low heat, without bringing to a boil. Remove from heat. Leave the container covered for 10-15 minutes. After that, you can strain the drink, add honey and pour into warm glasses.
Before pouring mulled wine, it is better to warm the glasses a little, then the drink will cool more slowly.
